Bound state eigenvalues from transmission coefficients

چکیده

Experts know that bound state energy eigenvalues of a potential well are poles its transmission amplitude, $t(E)$. The textbooks do by solving the states and scattering separately, but connection goes unheeded. Here, we present interesting instructive illustrations, where extract from known coefficients $(T(E)=|t(E)|^2)$ for six analytically solvable wells.

Some comments on bound state eigenvalues of PT - symmetric potentials

Using purely physical arguments, it is claimed that for ID Schrödinger operators with complex PT-symmetric potentials having a purely real, attractive potential well and a purely imaginary repulsive part, bound state eigenvalues will be discrete and real. This has been illustrated with several potentials possessing similar properties.

Transmission Eigenvalues

The scattering of a time-harmonic plane wave in an inhomogeneous medium is modeled by the scattering problem for the Helmholtz equation. A transmission eigenvalue is a wavenumber at which the scattering operator has a non-trivial kernel or cokernel. Because many sampling methods for locating scatterers succeed only at wavenumbers that are not transmission eigenvalues, they have been studied for...

Notes on Transmission Eigenvalues

Here k = ω/co is the wave number, ω denotes the frequency of excitation, S2 = {x ∈ R3, |x| = 1} is the unit sphere in R3, and co is such that its real and imaginary parts are respectively <(co)> 0 and =(co)60. The support ofD is assumed to be such that R3 \D is connected, and that ∂D is of Lipschitz type. As a canonical example of the scattering by a penetrable obstacle, consider next the case ...

Eigenvalues, singular values, and Littlewood-Richardson Coefficients

Chi-Kwong Li Department of Mathematics, College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia 23187-8795, USA E-mail: [email protected] We briefly describe some recent results on inequalities relating the eigenvalues of the sum of Hermitian or real matrices, and how to use these them inequalities relating the eigenvalues and singular values of a matrix and its submatrices. These results are joint ...
